Also known as a No Claims Discount, this is a discount offered for every year you DON’T make a claim. It’s a kind of reward for what is seen as safer driving.
It indicates to insurers that you are a ‘safer’ driver than someone who has made a claim. No Claims Bonuses are cumulative, so the more years you build up, the better the discount.
We’ll ask you to provide evidence from your previous insurer, which could be your renewal letter if it shows NCB information.
If you don’t have a renewal notice, you can ask your previous insurer by phone, email or sometimes by completing a form on their website.
Then all you have to do is take a pic of the doc and upload it to your customer account.
We need this proof of No Claims Bonus to give you the discount: without it, we’re afraid you would have to pay the premium in full.
Unfortunately, you can’t transfer your NCB to another type of vehicle. You can only transfer if it is the same type of vehicle. For example, from car to car.
SOME insurers will accept van to car or vice versa though.
Most insurers won't recognise a No Claims Bonus that has been earned outside of the UK.
Some will allow you to transfer a foreign bonus as long as you can provide an English translation of your No Claims Bonus.
If you have a No Claims Bonus earned in another country, chat to us and we will see what we can do.
Your previous insurer will have all this information.
It may be on a renewal letter or on your cancellation letter if you’re switching. If not, you can ask them to send it to you.
Technically, no. But if you are continuously named on a policy claim free for a period of one or more years, some insurers may offer you an introductory discount.
You’ll also be asked to provide proof of this named driving experience.
If you have an accident and the fault lies with you, then it’s likely you will lose some of your No Claims Bonus - or all of it.
This can be pretty frustrating, especially if you have had your NCB for years. But by opting to buy No Claims Bonus Protection, you’re safeguarding your discount for a small fee.
It’s important to note that this does not guarantee that your premium will not increase should you have a claim.
Unfortunately, your NCB can only be used for one car.
However...some insurers may offer an introductory discount if you own a second car and have an NCB earned on your first car.
Your No Claims Bonus will NOT be affected if you make a claim for roadside assistance.
