If you’re moving to a new house or switching jobs, we need to know.
If you’re moving to a new house or switching jobs, we need to know.
We call these changes ‘mid-term adjustments’ because we’re terribly formal! Just one of the joys of working in insurance…
Updating your insurance provider about changes is called making an MTA – and here are a few of the most common:
Personal details
- If you recently changed your name or got married.
Your car
- If you want to add or remove someone to your policy.
- If you’re selling or buying a new car.
- You also need to inform us of any recent modifications made, including engine changes, tinted windows, adding spoilers etc.
Your job
- If you moved job or changed your car usage to include commuting. Remember, this may also affect your annual mileage estimation – use our chart to check yours
Motoring offences
- It is important to request an MTA straightaway in any of the above situations.
If you don’t, you might invalidate your policy. The risk in invalidating your policy means if you get into an accident your insurance provider can decline your claim leaving you financially unprotected.
Your address
- If you have moved to a new house or changed where you park.
Will the price of my insurance change?
Some amendments will have no effect at all, meaning your premium stays the same. Other changes, like adding a driver under the age of 21 to your policy, will likely increase your premium.
Some MTA’s might also mean your insurance goes down in price – wouldn't that be nice?
